OPPORTUNITY

The People & Culture Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the mission and ministry of The Alliance Canada by helping to steward the full employee lifecycle across our organization. This role manages day to day HR operations, provides frontline support to staff, contributes to culture building initiatives, and ensures our People & Culture processes run smoothly and efficiently.

This position is ideal for someone with HR experience, strong administrative capability, and a heart for ministry. Prior experience with The Alliance Canada is considered a strong asset.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Recruitment & Onboarding
    • Post job opportunities across internal and external platforms.
    • Collect, track, and organize applicant information.
    • Communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process.
    • Coordinate and schedule interviews with ministry leaders.
    • Support new hire onboarding, ensuring a welcoming and seamless experience.
  2. Employee Relations & Support
    • Serve as a first point of contact for general HR questions
    • Maintain regular communication rhythms including monthly check-ins with assigned staff groups.
    • Assist with performance review processes.
    • Coordinate and schedule interviews with ministry leaders.
    • Provide support for conflict resolution or escalation under the supervision of the Director of People & Culture.
  3. HR Operations & Administration
    • Assist in compensation planning and documenting salary decisions.
    • Maintain accurate employee records and support the development of standardized HR processes (many of which are being built for the first time).
    • Prepare HR documentation, updates, reports, and workflow templates.
    • Support People & Culture projects and meetings related to culture, engagement, and organizational development.
  4. Systems & Tools Management
    • Operate and maintain HR related platforms including.
      • Emburse Professional (expense & reimbursement workflows)
      • Rock RMS (people management, internal records, forms, learning management system).
      • Microsoft Excel (tracking, reporting, compensation planning)
      • Microsoft Teams (meetings, communication, collaboration)
    • Assist in the selection and implementation of new HR systems as the ministry grows.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications & Experience

Highly committed and energetic individual, with the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • Personal faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, with exemplary history of faithful, fruitful Christian life and service.
  • Personal character that is Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered and Mission-focused, with a clear sense of calling and vocation.
  • Unwavering commitment to the Statement of Faith, vision, purposes, ministries and protocol of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada.
  • Clean criminal record check, able to comply fully with C&MA’s NMC Lifestyle Commitment.
  • Diploma or degree preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of HR, people operations, office administration, or related experience.
  • Familiarity with Canadian employment standards and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Preferred

  • Previous experience within The Alliance Canada or a similar ministry/faith-based environment is highly preferred.
  • Highly committed to personal and work integrity.
  • Discreetly handle confidential and organizational sensitive matters with diplomacy and tact.
  • Organized with the ability to plan and execute effectively.
  • Works well both independently and as a team member, maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Proficient in applying existing and learning new computer skills.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL

  • The work location is at our Mississauga office Tuesday-Thursday with an option to work from home Monday & Friday. For the right candidate outside our local area we would be open to remote work within Canada.
  • Some travel is required for meetings, training opportunities and to support large gatherings.
